"I grew up on the sea. My father is a boat captain and both my parents were instructors for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound school in Maine in the 1970s. They were involved in traditional boat building, maintaining and cataloging maritime history, and teaching self-reliance through outdoor experience. I use the imagery of my background to explore universal themes of human experience."

Annie Bailey is a visual artist from Midcoast Maine. Her work explores the emotional connections we feel with unique and inspiring spaces and individuals. It is often influenced by the maritime culture she grew up in, concepts of playfulness, authenticity, and a sense of place. Described as “hovering between abstraction and impressionistic realism,” her work celebrates the range of one’s creative potential, from control to chaos.

Annie can be reached via email if you have questions or comments.
